Dear KHNA Members,
Notice is hereby issued for the amendments to the Bylaws of KHNA
Constitution as per Article 11 of the KHNA Constitution. These
amendments were proposed in writing by a member in good standing and
were discussed by both Board of Directors and Board of Trustees and
include modifications approved by both boards. These amendments are
subject to approval of the upcoming General Body meeting in Los Angeles
during the fifth biennial convention.
Proposed
changes mainly pertain to the following and shall be voted on
individually:
Membership shall be open to all who apply
for membership and pay the membership dues, instead of treating only
those who register for biennial convention as KHNA members. (Article
3)
Establishment of a long-term Trust Fund out
of membership dues to carry out sustainable long-term KHNA projects. (Article
3.8)
Adopt “enabling of integration of all
castes within Hindu community” as a KHNA objective. (Article 2)
Clear rules for the handling of surplus and
deficits from KHNA conventions and proceeds from fund-raising programs.
(Article 9)
Removal of undue restrictions included in
the Bylaws. (Article 5.3)
(Other
modifications were also made throughout the text of the constitution to
reflect the above changes.)
Kindly study the
attached copies of the constitution (below) as originally approved on July 4,
2007 and the amended version as of May 25, 2009. Board of Directors and
Board of Trustees believe that these amendments are essential to make
KHNA a strong and viable organization for the long-term and would
enable KHNA to serve the community better. We request an affirmative
vote from you on these amendments at the General Body meeting.
Sincerely,
Vinodh Bahuleyan General Secretary Kerala Hindus of
