As the month of June arrived, Washingtonians have already forgotten the
record-breaking snow fall of the winter months. The sun has quickly burned away
the morning fog on June 12, 2010 bringing in a beautiful and warm spring day.
The birds were cooing and chirping as the soft music welcomed the participants
to the Yogathon at the Damascus State Recreational Park (Damascus, MD).
As we all know, the science of yoga has grown globally in the last few decades
due to the widespread recognition of its physical and mental health benefits.
Yogathon was organized by KHNA-YuVA so that the members can be given hands-on
instructions on yoga poses. The teachers included Yoga instructors, Parvati Das
and Vijili Bahuleyan from KHNA as well as other well known instructors from the
Art of Living Foundation.
The events began at 11 AM. Attendees were given personal instruction on various
yoga poses to tone the body as well as calm the mind. The events included short
talks about the effects of yoga and continued till 6 PM with a brief snacks
break. Kudos to the organizers for providing this timely and valuable service to
community!
