KHNA Message on "Pooja Veippu" and Vijayadasami

Los Angeles, Oct 2, 2008: Mahanavami and Vijayadasami are undoubtedly the most unforgettable days for all children who grow up in the Malayali Hindu tradition - the "Pooja Veippu" that they all look forward to all year long. The day to pray for Goddess Saraswathi's blessings for all the best to happen in education, literature and arts in their lives. Also the day to play and not have to study, which is what all children remember for ever. Compared to the Navarathri and Dassara celebrations around India, Malayalis have a distinctly different way of celebrating the Mahanavami and Vijayadasami with Ayudha Pooja and Pusthaka Pooja. KHNA takes this occasion to remind all Hindu malayali families about the upcoming pooja. Mahanavami for "Pooja Veippu" is on Oct 8th Wednesday and Vijayadasami for "Pooja Eduppu" is on Oct 9th Thursday, which is also the most auspicious day for "Ezhutthinirutthu" when small children write their first letters, "Hari Shree Ganapathaye Namaha". The following is a news release about the importance of Pooja and on the functions planned in a Los Angeles temple where an Ehutthiniruthu ceremony will take place on Oct 10th. KHNA encourages all Hindu malayali organizations to come together and conduct similar ceremonies in other cities as well. [We apologize for a small error in the release below - it should be "shree gurave namaha" and not "guruve"]
