Washington DC,Dec 31, 2009: KHNA successfully conducted a workshop on learning to speak samskrtham,
with the help of Samskrutha Bharathi, the organization well-known for spreading the great language
through workshops geared towards speaking, in a manner different than how Samskrutham is traditionally
taught. The greatest service by Samskrutha bharathi is in helping to remove the misperceptions that
the language is a "difficult one", "not for speaking" and "only for religious texts" - all myths spread
over decades by those with a vested interest in keeping the great language away. This fact was amply
brought out in the day long workshop held at Washington DC at the residence of the KHNA president, Sri.
M. G. Menon. The workshop was conducted by Sri Velikettil Balakrishnan, an active Samskritha Bharathi
organizer from New York, and a long time member of KHNA. Also in attendance from New York was
Smt. Rugmini Nair, the children's committee chair for KHNA's New York convention in 2007. This workshop
follows seminar sessions conducted at the Los Angeles Convention on Samskrutham, as well as the message
delivered by the KHNA president at the Washington DC Shubhaarambham meeting in November 2009 that KHNA
will focus carefully on this activity. The meeting was attended by around 20 people and left everybody
with renewed vigor in learning Samskrutham and viewing the language as a fully practical spoken language
and not as a "dead" langauage. For further information on future activities, please contact Sri. Unnivelan
